The snippet that you see in Google.com and other search engine is based on that description meta tag. From Google: "<a target="_new" href="http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2009/09/google-does-not-use-keywords-meta-tag.html" rel="nofollow">Google does not use the keywords meta tag</a>" But the description meta tag is not used in the ranking. Other <a target="_new" href="http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=79812" rel="nofollow">meta tags</a> are described in detail on Google Webmaster Central. The only meta tag that is really important is the description meta tag. The snippet that you see in Google.com and other search engine is based on that description meta tag.
