The snippet that you see in Google.com and other search engine is based on that description meta tag. From Google: "<a target="_new" href="http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2009/09/google-does-not-use-keywords-meta-tag.html" rel="nofollow">Google does not use the keywords meta tag</a>" But the description meta tag is not used in the ranking. Other <a target="_new" href="http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=79812" rel="nofollow">meta tags</a> are described in detail on Google Webmaster Central.
